How we use it

  • To run Torqvoy's features: recording, route planning, navigation, group rides, the feed, messages and the marketplace.
  • To send the notifications you've turned on, such as messages, likes, group ride updates and SOS alerts.
  • To keep the service safe, for example by rate-limiting abuse and acting on reports.
  • To fix bugs and improve the app.

Location

Torqvoy uses your location only for features you start yourself:

  • Recording a ride. Your GPS track is saved when you finish the ride. If you give background permission, recording continues while the screen is off. You choose whether each ride is public or private.
  • Group rides. Your live position is shared only with members of the ride you've joined, and only while that ride is running.
  • SOS. Your position goes to your group ride, or to followers who are online if you're riding alone. Your phone also opens a text message to your emergency contacts, and that text is sent from your phone.
  • Map and nearby. Your position is used to centre the map and find places and public rides near you.

You can turn location off at any time in your phone's settings. Recording and group rides won't work without it.

Who we share with

We use a few service providers to run Torqvoy. They process data only on our behalf:

  • MongoDB Atlas, which hosts the database.
  • Cloudinary, which stores photos.
  • Expo, which delivers push notifications.
  • RevenueCat, Google Play and the App Store, which handle subscriptions.
  • SendGrid and Twilio, which send password-reset codes.
  • Google Maps, OpenStreetMap / Overpass, GraphHopper and OSRM, which provide maps, places and routing. They receive map coordinates, but not your account details.

Other riders see what you choose to make public: your profile, public rides and posts. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. Live group ride positions are passed on to the other riders and never stored. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, rides, posts, photos and messages within 30 days. Copies in backups are gone within a further 30 days.

Your choices

  • Set rides and posts to private, or delete them, at any time in the app.
  • Turn each type of notification on or off in Settings.
  • Export any ride as GPX (Premium).
  • Ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion through the support form. You can also use the account deletion page.

Children

Torqvoy isn't meant for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has an account, let us know and we'll remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
